Henry Merz's 19th Century Portraits

  • Henry Merz was a portrait photographer in lower Manhattan, active from 1861 to 1883, making and selling Cartes de Visite (CDVs) for probably thousands of clients before, during and after the Civil War. He was also my great-great grandfather on my mother's German side.
